Mental Health Therapy
Therapy services are available free of charge to Christ Church members (adults and teens; referrals to child therapists are available) and Christ Church Preschool staff. There is a limit of 16 therapy appointments, which can be offered at our offices or via telehealth.
Our therapists offer services to address a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, anger, stress, peer/family relationships, work-life balance, insomnia, holistic wellness, life transitions, family changes, behavior and school concerns, self-esteem, grief and loss, and communication issues.
Therapy services are provided by Masters-level, licensed therapists Alex Bacon and Amy Styers Bissette. Alex received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, MA, and her undergraduate degree from Davidson College. Amy earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she also received her undergraduate degree. Both therapists draw from multiple evidence-based modalities tailored to meet the individual needs of each client.
Pastoral Care & Support

Our clergy offer spiritual support to parishioners when needed. A member of the clergy is always on call and can be reached by calling 704-333-0378.
-
Christ Church Lay Chaplains are members of the congregation invited and trained by clergy to provide a non-anxious, listening presence to fellow members who may be feeling lonely, stressed, or facing a significant life challenge. Lay Chaplain visits are confidential; however, a visit may call for the lay chaplain to connect with a specific clergy member, the Wellbeing & Care Team, or other resources.

Sometimes it helps to talk with others who are going through the same kinds of challenges. We currently offer these support groups:
Navigating Other Resources
There are times when a community therapist may be a better fit, such as when more than 16 sessions are needed, a client’s needs are outside of our therapists’ expertise, or a therapist outside of Christ Church is desired.
Alex and Amy can help identify and refer to local mental health providers when needed. They also can provide information regarding community resources.
There is no charge for such referral services, and this referral offering is available to anyone whether they are Christ Church members or not.
